EXIF Viewer & Metadata Cleaner

Check what a photo may reveal, then create a fresh copy without embedded JPEG metadata.

Everything runs in your browser. The selected image is not uploaded to ToolsFaction. Metadata detection is intentionally conservative: the tool reports fields it can verify rather than guessing at unsupported formats.

Photos can carry more than pixels. Check the file itself, review common JPEG EXIF details when they are available, and create a fresh copy without carrying the original embedded metadata into the export.

About This Tool

EXIF Viewer & Metadata Cleaner is made for the moment when you want to know what is attached to an image before you share it. Alongside practical details such as dimensions, megapixels, aspect ratio and file size, it reads a focused set of common JPEG EXIF fields when present. These can include camera make and model, dates, software, exposure settings and an indication that GPS data exists. Cleaning redraws the decoded image onto a new browser Canvas and exports fresh image data instead of copying the original file container. Your original file remains untouched.

How to Use

  1. Choose a JPG, PNG or WebP image, or drag it into the upload area.
  2. Review the file details and any JPEG EXIF fields the tool can verify.
  3. Click Clean Metadata when you want a newly encoded copy without the original embedded metadata.
  4. Compare the original and cleaned file sizes.
  5. Download the cleaned copy and keep the original if you still need its metadata.

Example

Before sending a camera photo, open the JPEG in the tool. You may see the camera model, capture date or an indication that GPS information is present. Use Clean Metadata to create a newly encoded copy for sharing while leaving the original photo unchanged.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the image leave my device?

No. Inspection and cleaning happen in your browser. The selected image is not uploaded to ToolsFaction.

What metadata can the tool show?

For JPEG files, it checks a focused set of common EXIF fields such as camera make and model, dates, software, orientation, exposure settings, ISO, focal length and the presence of GPS data.

Why do I see no EXIF information?

The file may not contain EXIF data, it may already have been cleaned, or it may use fields or a container this lightweight browser parser does not read. The tool does not invent values it cannot verify.

Does Clean Metadata change my original file?

No. It creates a separate, newly encoded image. Your original file is not modified.

Will the cleaned file have exactly the same file size?

Usually not. Re-encoding can make a file smaller or larger because the browser creates new image data and may use different compression from the original encoder.

Can it preserve every visual property perfectly?

The tool preserves the decoded image at its original dimensions, but re-encoding can affect compression and color handling. Keep the source file when you need an archival original.
