Resize images for social media
Resize images for social media directly in your browser. Choose an Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn or X preset, adjust the dimensions and fit mode, then export the resized image as JPG, PNG or WebP.
About This Tool
Social Media Image Resizer is a browser-based tool for preparing images for common social media placements. It includes practical presets for Instagram posts, Stories and Reels; YouTube thumbnails and channel artwork; Facebook posts and covers; LinkedIn posts and banners; and X posts and headers. Custom pixel dimensions are also supported.
Crop to fill makes the image cover the complete target area and crops excess image content from the center. Fit entire image preserves the complete source inside the requested canvas. Stretch forces the source into the exact dimensions and can change its proportions.
The resize operation runs locally in your browser with the HTML Canvas API. The selected image does not need to be uploaded to ToolsFaction for processing. Results can be exported as JPG, PNG or WebP.
Social platforms can change their recommended sizes and display behavior. Treat presets as practical starting points and keep important text, logos and faces away from edges where an app interface may crop or cover them.
How to Use
- Choose a JPG, PNG or WebP image, or drag and drop it into the upload area. Select the social platform and image type you want to prepare.
- The preset fills the width and height fields automatically. You can edit either field when you need custom dimensions. Choose Crop to fill for an edge-to-edge result, Fit entire image to preserve the complete source, or Stretch when changing the source proportions is acceptable.
- Choose JPG, PNG or WebP, adjust quality, and select Resize Image. Review the preview, output dimensions, format and file size, then select Download Image.
Example
Suppose you have a landscape photo and need a square Instagram post. Upload the image, choose Instagram and Square Post — 1080 × 1080, then select Crop to fill. The tool creates a centered square output at 1080 by 1080 pixels.
If keeping the complete landscape image is more important than filling the square, switch to Fit entire image before resizing.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I resize an image for social media?
Upload an image, choose a platform and image preset, select the fit method, and generate the resized result. You can then download it as JPG, PNG or WebP.
Which social media platforms are included?
The tool includes presets for Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn and X, plus custom dimensions.
What is the difference between crop and fit?
Crop to fill covers the complete target size and removes excess image area when aspect ratios differ. Fit entire image preserves the whole source inside the target canvas.

The resizing operation is designed to run locally in your browser using the Canvas API, so the selected image does not need to be uploaded to ToolsFaction for processing.

Yes. Choose Custom Size or edit the width and height fields directly. The tool accepts dimensions up to 10,000 pixels per side.
Which image formats can I export?
The tool can export JPG, PNG and WebP when the format is supported by your browser. JPG output uses a white background for transparent areas.
